About our Shropshires

Jon, Charlotte and Vivian Stephenson have a small flock of Registered Shropshires in the rolling hills of Southwest Wisconsin.

The mission of Sugar Ridge Ranch has always been to produce show quality Shropshire sheep that can compete not only in the show ring, but also in the barn. We strive to produce sound, correct, eye appealing sheep, that are show ring pretty, but still highly productive and functional sheep.

Our flock consists of moderate sized shrops that are efficient, good mothers and highly competitive in the show circuit nationally. We strive for excellent breed type and structural correctness.

Sugar Ridge Ranch began it's Shropshire flock with a handful of elite sheep purchased from a few of the breed's most influential breeders. Our original ewe base was heavily influenced by primarily Avery Shropshire & Rife Shropshire genetics. To this day, our best ewe lines go all the way back to NAILE Champion Avery Shropshires Juice and Rife Shropshires Duke. In the winter of 2018, we added some elite flock additions with powerful pieces that tie back into our foundation ewe lines. We are excited for the future!

2019, 2020 & Current 2021 National Junior Secretary

Vivian was reelected as the National Junior Secretary this January. She is excited to continue working to engage participation of the youth members of the Junior ASRA, and encourage new members to join the Junior Shropshire Association.

2019, 2020 & Current 2021 Junior Regional Representative

Vivian was also reselected to be the Regional Representative for the Junior Association's Wisconsin & Michigan Districts. Questions about becoming a junior member of the Shropshire Association?
